Searching, publishing and remixing a Web of Semantic Data

Richard Cyganiak (DERI Galway)
Open data Goldsmiths 3
Chair: Steven Pemberton (CWI/W3C)

Almost 50 millions Semantic Web documents are available on the Web in RDF format and can be readily used into applications or web sites. Similarly, exposing one’s data as Semantic Web data has an unprecedented potential for advertising products and services.

In this presentation I will specifically show:
  • Sindice, a research project that created a comprehensive indexing service for the Semantic Web. Sindice APIs allow building applications and web sites which locate and reuse Semantic Web data sources.
  • How to publish Semantic Web data in a way which is both efficient and guarantees maximum precision and recall when harvested by clients or semantic web enabled Search Engines thanks to the Semantic Sitemap Extension. • How to quickly remix, process, filter, adapt and produce Semantic Web Data using Semantic Web Pipes. SW Pipes are a paradigm for data processing which can be used standalone or embedded into software solving a great number semantic data information processing needs with unprecedented ease. (http://pipes.deri.org)

The presentation will be largely demo driven, with several third parties applications being shown both publishing and reusing data leveraging the above technologies. Developers and Architects will be the ideal audience but the presentation will be in general accessible to any technical inclined participant.
