When Google released the set of Data APIs nearly 3 years ago, the actual standard work this was based upon, was not finished until October 2007. Since then, the standard emerged, was modified and adopted, and Google released more than a dozen significant properties using this API.
As Google spearheaded the adoption of the standard, a need for innovation and modifications arose that happened fast and was driven by internal and external requirements.
In this talk we are going to try to examine some of the “add-on” work Google provided, things we intentionally left out, where we are likely to change, what we learned that worked or did not work, and where we are trying to move some of our extension back to the community.
